What they don’t tell you about pregnancy!

As a new mom or soon to be mom, you are mostly unsure of what to expect and as much as one tends to go with the flow, finding that whatever you are going through is similar to another mom does bring encouragement.

Not everyone gets morning sickness.

Shocked!….
I know. It is very common to experience morning sickness i.e nausea, spitting, vomiting, etc However not everyone experiences that. I  never had morning sickness and I think it differs from person to person.I just had a crazy appetite for boiled eggs with kachumbari from the street vendors.

Heart Burn

This is by far the most annoying thing that you can experience. The discomfort you experience at night when you’re actively trying to sleep is insane!
I was even advised to drink cold milk, it didn’t work. what worked for a short while was raw carrot and i would chew that when having a heart burn.

Headaches

This happens occasionally but isn’t nearly as annoying as a heartburn.

Seeing and feeling your baby move

Most people already know that you will see or feel your baby move  a lot during your second and third trimesters. However, during the last few weeks of your third trimester, you’ll be  able to touch your tummy and actually feel the foot  or arm of the baby as he fills up more and more in there.

Sex/intimacy

Most men especially are afraid they might hurt the baby during sex. It’s completely false. Once the woman is comfortable with it, it’s fine. I have actually been told that it helps speed up labour if you’re overdue.
Craved this so much, and especially during third trimester. There are safe positions especially when in the third trimester. Don’t shy away actually enjoy it more.

You’ll lose your short-term memory

This is very real. I remember my partner tried to teach me how to drive and everytime i was told to do exactly what he said, i would be clueless. this drove him mad  藍came to understand that short memory during pregnancy is real.

Shaving

Shaving your vjayjay is next to impossible especially during the third trimester. You get so big, you can’t see past your big belly.  You can ask your partner if he is comfortable to shave you, after all we all want to present a clean shaven area when delivering. Not like you will realize when labor hits. 

Injections

Who knew you had to get so many injections while pregnant. It’s bad enough that you have to deal with this heaviness everyday. So for me, I had the first blood test to confirm pregnancy. Then the routine blood test for HIV/AIDS .
Then I had to have two tetanus injections which were painful!

.

Back Pain

This happens when you sit without your back supported for a while or stand for too long. always have a little pillow propped at home for support.

Some of your friends will ditch you

This is very normal, there are those friends whom when you were girls /ladies you had fun and well shared more about boys. but the moment you start this journey not everyone wants to hear you talk about how you are having morning sickness. they don’t understand that!
what helped is joining a pregnancy support group on Facebook(whatsapp) for the same EDM .We would share about our journey and this really helped. Helped us keep in check

However your journey is, trust in the process! Take it one day at a time and above all find positive energy. Join a mom group for pregnant moms. mostly found on Facebook.

Above all, Prayers!!

Love mama!
